Nau mai, haere mai! Welcome to Beyond the Page 2022.

This is our sixth year of Beyond the Page and we are thrilled to be bringing back the festival with all in-person events. Each year we look for ways to improve and bring you high quality performances and we are excited to announce that we are growing beyond Wellington and extending into the Wairarapa with Masterton District Library joining the festival.

We have a great programme this year and hope to see you and your whānau at many of the fantastic free events on offer throughout the Wellington/Wairarapa region.

Who’s behind the scenes?

Beyond the Page is a collaboration between five Wellington region Public Libraries, Hutt City Libraries, Upper Hutt City Libraries, Wellington City Libraries, Kāpiti Coast District Libraries, and Masterton District Library.

Our vision

Libraries are more than just books and printing facilities. Beyond the Page is an opportunity for tamariki and their whānau to experience the ‘other’ -fizzing, creative, energetic, entrepreneurial, tech-driven, adventurous- side of Libraries. Hundreds of events have been held at libraries and galleries across the Wellington region in the first five years of the festival, with thousands of tamariki and their family joining us for the ride!

Ticketing

All festival events are free and, unless indicated in the Schedule of Events, do not require registration or tickets. Where required, bookings for events can be made through Eventfinda.

Events that do not require ticketing may restrict numbers on the day for safety due to venue and crowd size.

We recommend arriving 15 minutes before the start of each event. Late arrivals may be admitted on a case-by-case basis.

Age recommendations

Check out the descriptions of each event for age recommendations. Children are expected to be accompanied by caregivers at all times at festival events.

Accessible Festival

Beyond the Page events are held in libraries and community spaces across the Wellington region which have a high level of physical accessibility and public transport links.
