As part of Beyond the Page 2024 we were very excited to run our Tamariki Writing Competition.
The aim of this competition was to encourage tamariki to get creative over the holidays and experiment with different kinds of storytelling – any forms of writing around the theme of “Exploration” were accepted: plays, short stories, poetry, comics, and more!
The 2024 Beyond the Page Tamariki Writing Competition prize book, featuring the incredible work of our talented winners below, has now been published.

From stories and poems to comics and plays, the creativity and imagination shown by our participants was amazing. We’re so proud to showcase their work in this special collection.
A big congratulations to all our winners – your work is now immortalized in this beautiful book!
Copies of this anthology have now been sent out to all our winners, and to all your local participating Beyond the Page libraries, so keep an eye out on the shelves for it!
Ngā mihi nui to everyone who took part in the competition – your creativity has truly made this project something special!
