Birdlife Productions is a children’s theatre and puppetry performance group based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, known for using puppetry and live music to transform children’s lives, inviting them to feel, think and dream. They provide the opportunity to listen and reflect in this high-tech, fast-paced digital world, offering a counter to ‘screen time,’ allowing space in ‘real time’ for the magic of their craft to flourish.
Co-director of award-winning children’s theatre company Birdlife Productions, Roger Sanders is a storyteller, actor, musician, puppeteer, and improviser with over 30 years experience telling traditional European folk tales for both children and adults. His mesmerising storytelling style honours the origins of traditional stories, embellishing them with his own unique character using drama, humour, and plenty of live music and percussion. He has visited hundreds of schools and kindergartens, arts events, festivals, fundraisers, libraries, and private functions all around New Zealand and the UK.
